Pharmaceutical Form and Formulation:
The vial contains:
Sodium bisulfite of menadione Vitamin K3 …………. 50 mg
cbp vehicle ………………………………………… …5ml
Therapeutic indications:
Treatment and prevention of hypoprothrombinemia and deficiency of vitamin K-dependent coagulation factors. Absorption and synthesis deficiency of vitamin K due to malabsorption syndromes, antibiotic therapy, prolonged diarrhea, obstructive jaundice, intestinal resection. Hypoprothrombinemia secondary to salicylates, sulfonamide. Coumarin anticoagulant poisoning.
Contraindications:
hypersensitivity Glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
Secondary and adverse reactions:
Intravenous (I.V.) administration may cause flushing of the load and diaphoresis; intramuscular (I.M.) may cause pain and nodule formation at the application site. In neonates it can cause hyperbilirubinemia and hemolytic anemia. Hypersensitivity may develop.
Presentations:
Box with a 5 ml vial.
Dosage and route of administration:
One intramuscular (IM) or intravenous (IV) vial every 24 hours.
